Ever thought about leading a walk but don’t know where to start?
We are here to help and support you.
Q. How do I pick a route?
A. Firstly, we have many routes in many areas we have used before. We can suggest something to get you going. Another idea is picking an area local to you that you know.
Q. Where do I start a walk?
A. The start needs to have ample parking. Find a somewhere where the owner is happy for you to use their car park or safe parking along a town or village road. You might find a free car park with a little searching. It always helps to have the start near a pub as you know we like to be social after a walk.
Q. What sort of length / time of walk?
A. We generally start our walks at 1.30pm on Saturdays and the average walk is 7-8 miles and 6 miles in the Winter.
Q. How do I know how far the route is?
A. Use a free mapping app on your phone like “outdooractive”, “mapmywalk” or sign up to “OS-MAP”s and walk the walk. Of course, you can work it out via a REAL map! I can help you set up any of these.
Q. Do I need to Recce a walk, and can I get help doing it?
A. YES! You need to walk the walk to ensure the route works, it’s the right length and do a simple risk assessment. If you need help on the recce, let me know and we can arrange to meet, and I’ll walk with you.
