About Herts Weekend Walkers
Herts Weekend Walkers (HWW for short) is a friendly group who normally walk on a Saturday afternoon in and around the county of Hertfordshire and sometimes outside the county boundaries. Most HWW members are of working age or are busy early retirees who only find time to get outside and enjoy a walk at the weekend; however, everyone is welcome.
The group also enjoys some socialising after walks and occasionally organises trips and holidays to other parts of the country.
All our walks are led by volunteer members of HWW who walk regularly with the group and give up their own time to plan and lead them. The walks are listed on the Ramblers website and additional details are sent out to our members by regular email bulletins. We operate as a paperless group. Our walks are usually between 5 and 12 miles long and occasionally we undertake more challenging walks.
To receive updates about the group, please subscribe to our mailing list here. You may remain on our mailing list for up to three months before becoming a member.
We are always pleased to see new walkers so do come along and try us out. We will be happy to see you. Just introduce yourself to the walk leader on the day. You may come on two or three walks after which you must join Ramblers, which can be done through the Ramblers website at https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership
You should choose "Herts Weekend Walkers" in Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Area as your group of choice otherwise you will be automatically allocated to another group based on your home postcode. Membership of HWW entitles you to walk with any Ramblers group in the country.
We look forward to seeing you on a walk soon!
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the details of your walks?
All our forthcoming walks are listed on our calendar which can be found at: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/ramblers-groups/herts-weekend-walkers-group. Any queries about the walk should be directed to the individual walk leader whose contact details are provided
Do I have to let anyone know if I plan to come on your walks?
You do not normally need to let anyone know if you are intending to come on our walks. To limit numbers some of our walks are by booking only, with details in the walk description, and you should only attend a walk if you have received confirmation of your booking. For all walks you should arrive about 10 minutes before it is due to begin (to allow time to put boots on) and introduce yourself to the leader.
