Step 1
Log in to Ramblers Walks Manager (https://walks-manager.ramblers.org.uk/walks-manager), and select 'List View' from the top navigation (burger menu on mobile devices). There you should see a list of walks and dates already set up by other HWW leaders.
Step 2
Click 'Add a Walk', to bring up the form to add your walk.
Complete the Title (we usually use the start place name), date and time of your walk. When you select 'HWW' as the walking group, your name should appear in the list to nominate yourself as the leader.
If your name does not show, or you have issues logging in to Walks manager, please contact the Walks Editor This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to check your Walk leader status has been set up correctly.
Step 3
Check that the 3 icons next to your name are solid black, and not greyed out.
(If they are grey then please click on the person icon at the top of the page, and select 'Contact preferences'. Here you can add your mobile number and email address, and set your contact preferences to ensure people can contact you about the walk, if needed. Otherwise, any queries default to the Membership secretary, adding to their workload and delaying responses.)
At the bottom of each page click 'save and continue', and complete the remaining details:
Description - High level route and what might be seen on the walk.
Additional Details - can be left blank, or call out anything unusually, tendency to be muddy etc. The Walks Editor can our standard lines re walk pace and bringing Ramblers card for you.
Add photos - can be left blank, or add a photo from your reccie. Please only add images that you own / or have express permission to use.
Location - usually done using the nearest postcode, then you can zoom in on the map and move the pointer as required to pin point the start location.
Location Details - this is where we add more details about the start point, guidance on where to park, and re include the street name and postcode (this is needed because of how the walk details show on different devices).
Grading - the typical HWW pace is moderate
Step 4
You can save your details as a draft walk, to hold the date. Or, submit for publishing, in which case please message in the Walk Leaders WhatsApp group, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so the Walks Editor knows you have submitted the walk.
Your walk details will then have a quick review, just to sense check, and the Walks Editor will publish for you. Your walk will then show on the HWW and Ramblers websites, and will be addied to the weekly email.
